PAUL GALEA REGISTERS 5 VICTORIES DURING SUNDAY’S MEETING

Paul Galea ended the first part of the season in style as he became the 5th driver in Malta to register 5 victories in one racing programme. In actual fact this was the 8th time it happened as Rodney Gatt had managed this feat on 3 occassion whilst Noel Baldacchino did it twice. The other two drivers to take 5 victories in one programme were legendary Raymond Clifton and Charles Camilleri.

Earlier this year, during the 4th meeting, Galea had managed 4 victories but he was not anticipating having such a wonderful weekend right before the Summer break. In fact on Friday evening he also took another two wins for a total of 7 on his tab.

On Sunday he took victories with Gaia Lucaxelo, Simb Trishia, Venale and Dario del Brenta as well as Egerie du Puy in the Prix de Cabourg final. In his other four rides of the day he was 3rd in the Prix de Vincennes, 4th in the Prix de Cagnes Sur Mer, 4th in the Gold race and unplaced in the Silver race.

In a comment given after his 5th victory, he attributed this to all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes during the week saying that days like these give incentive and courage to go on as the life of a driver is definitely a very hard and difficult one.
