Flat Racing

Flat racing is the most common form of horse racing seen worldwide. In Malta this was the first horse racing held at the “Old Racetrack” with the most important honour being the Mediterranean Derby. Most commonly known as gallop racing it was also held on a regular basis when the new racetrack was developed in the eightees but due to logistics these races became difficult to organise and now it has been several years that we have not had a flat racing season in Malta. It is the intention of the Malta Equidrome to develop adequate facilities for these races to be revived once again in the near future.
