Jean Claude Pace is the European Champion for Apprentice Drivers

Disputed at the Malta Equidrome on Sunday 29th October the UET European Championship for Apprentice Drivers had everyone counting the points until the last race as the Maltese representative Jean Claude Pace was declared the winner just one point ahead of Irish Jonathan Cowden who had outshone everyone by winning two of the four heats. Taking the 3rd place podium was Austria’s Jonas Steiner who also managed to win one of the four races. Jean Claude Pace had not registered a win but his two second places, a 4th and 8th place were enough to snatch the title 23 years since Tony Cauchi had done so in Russia and just as many years since Malta had participated in this championship.
The presentations were done by UET President Marjaana Alaviukhola in the presence of other UET officials as well as officials from the Malta Racing Club, EquestriMalta and Malta Equidrome.
